We were sad to recently say goodbye to our winter quarter intern, Nicolette DeLuca. Nicolette is a journalism major at Cal Poly with an emphasis in public relations and a minor in integrated marketing communications. She was also president of her sorority, Chi Omega, and loved the opportunity to work with Make A Wish through her organization. She interned with us during her winter quarter at Cal Poly and we asked her to share a little bit about her experience:
What an amazing 10 weeks it has been! Between the atmosphere, coworkers and quality of work, I could not have imagined a better environment than Verdin in which to learn and grow.
Verdin was my first internship in public relations and marketing and everything about interning here has exceeded my expectations. From my everyday jobs like writing tourism blog posts, to the funny and random tasks I did like call a business eight times to claim their Facebook page, every day was a new adventure at Verdin. I was really able to refine my writing skills in a professional setting and explore different areas of work to get a better feel for the kind of industry I would like to go into. My writing opportunities ranged from press releases to blog posts, and biographies to e-newsletters.
I doubt I would have had such a positive experience anywhere else. Each member of the staff is so amazingly helpful and open to questions or giving feedback. It is such a positive environment to grow and gain knowledge. The office has a wonderful flow to it because of these amazing employees.
I admire Verdin for the incredible care they put into everything they give to their clients, making sure to continue positive relationships throughout the community. If I would happen to mention to anyone that I was interning for Verdin, everything I heard about Verdin was wonderful. I can only hope to find myself working full-time for a company as incredible as this someday.
Verdin takes on a student intern every academic quarter. Stay tuned for future spotlights on these talented and ambitious students!
