100 Years of Suffrage: Slo League of Women Voters’ Centennial Luncheon Promotes Civil Rights for All
Tickets are on sale to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the League of Women Voters! On February 14, 1920, a team of determined women organized and chartered the League of Women Voters in order to successfully prepare for their right to vote under the 19th Amendment. The LWV continues to empower women today and fight for the right to vote.
Join the LWV of San Luis Obispo County for a luncheon on February 22, 2020 at 11:30am. Attendees will enjoy a delicious lunch and hear from keynote speaker Carolyn Jefferson-Jenkins, PhD.
Jefferson-Jenkins is the only woman of color to have served as the League’s national president. She is a published author who advocates for social justice, civil rights and educational opportunities. Her new book The Untold Story of Women of Color in the League of Women Voters will be available for presale at a 20 percent discount at the luncheon.
