Dining for Women (DFW) is a global giving circle that funds grassroots programs working in developing countries to fight gender inequality. Between 2003 and 2014, Dining for Women raised more than $4.1 million for grassroots programs. There are currently 458 total domestic and international chapters, with local chapters in Templeton and Shell Beach. Dining for Women’s collective giving model is proving that small contributions, aggregated together, can make a huge difference for women and girls living in extreme poverty in developing countries.
DFW selects 12 featured programs a year to receive grants of up to $50,000. Dining for Women also organizes trips to visit featured programs and experience first-hand the impacts that their grants have made on the lives of women all over the world.
The featured program for February is the Vacha Charitable Trust located in Mumbai, India. The Vacha Charitable Trust provides leadership training for adolescent girls in marginalized communities, providing them with skills to become active leaders and affect change. Vacha promotes marginalized girls to gain skills and experience for modern life and live in a safe environment where they have a voice.
