United Way’s KidSpree program will be giving local children in need the opportunity to get a whole new wardrobe for the upcoming school year on Sunday August 2, 2015. Each child will receive a $100 gift-card and will be paired with a community partner, who will help them to spend their $100 on back-to-school clothing. Studies show that having this basic need met helps children do better in school.
Children are recommended by local county agencies, ensuring that the families of these children are aware of other services available to them. It also helps United Way identify those most in need.
United Way focuses on helping the San Luis Obispo County community through improving education, reducing the number of high school dropouts, helping people achieve financial stability, and promoting healthy lives. Through their focus on education, income and health, United Way of SLO County strives to build a stronger, healthier and more compassionate community. One of the ways they achieve their goals is through programs like KidSpree.
Both individuals and companies can help United Way to support local children through KidSpree.
