Another Memorial Day weekend, another successful Strawberry Festival in Arroyo Grande! The Village was transformed into a bustling marketplace and carnival this past weekend with games, live performances, and vendors for the 36th Annual Strawberry Festival. This year the festival attracted visitors from all over the western United States, drawing tens of thousands of people from all over, making it one of the largest Strawberry Festivals on the Central Coast.
Both Saturday and Sunday, visitors were treated to performances by a variety of acts including live music, acrobatics and dance. But the fun didn’t stop there. Kids and parents alike were smiling ear-to-ear while checking out the petting zoo, perusing products on sale, and of course snacking on the strawberry covered desserts. From strawberry shortcake to strawberry tamales, the festival filled the hearts and stomachs of strawberry lovers.
Guests could also participate in the Strawberry Stampede, a 5k and 10k run to help burn off the calories. Many people turned out for the race and it was a huge success.
As it is every year, the Strawberry Festival was the ultimate summer kick-off for locals and visitors. I, for one, am already counting down to next year’s — only about 354 days to go!
