From Beering to Cheering, Don’t Miss This Action-Packed Weekend in Atascadero
March 23-25 will be a big weekend for one of our favorite small towns. We’ve got the scoop on Atascadero’s lineup of events, starting with a glass of wine and concluding with a finish line.
Friday, March 23
Unwind from a busy week by grabbing a friend and checking out Atascadero’s Art and Wine Tour. This event is a local favorite and it’s held every few months throughout downtown. A $15 ticket gets you a wine glass, tastings among downtown merchants, and tours of the Historic City hall.
Saturday, March 24
If beer is your thing, this is your day! Clink glasses with fellow beer lovers at the Central Coast Craft Beer Fest on Saturday from 1-4pm. While maybe not recommended if you signed up for Sunday’s event (keep reading for more on that), this festival will feature more than 40 breweries, six wineries and four cideries as well as food vendors and live music in Atascadero’s Sunken Gardens. Your $40-50 ticket gets you a commemorative cup and unlimited two-ounce pours (psst… it’s cheaper if you purchase in advance!). This event kicks off Central Coast Beer Week.
Sunday, March 25
Runners have been busy training for the Tent City Marathon, which will be set in Atascadero’s rolling hills on Sunday, March 25. Race distances ranging from 5K to a full 26.2 will challenge runners on a beautiful course with a strong incentive to finish: beer and cupcakes at the finish line!
If the only words you took away from that paragraph were “beer” and “cupcakes,” there’s a race distance that might appeal to you… the none-run! Yes, you can sign up to run exactly 0.0 miles at 9am on race day. Once you finish (a.k.a. show up), you can partake in beer and cupcakes too, and you’ll get a T-shirt like everyone else. All of your excuses just flew out the window.
Proceeds from all race distances will benefit the Atascadero Printery Foundation, a group dedicated to preserving and rehabilitating Atascadero’s historic Printery Building.
