Here Are the Local Nonprofits and Small Businesses That Got a ‘Boost’!
Verdin Boost: A Marketing Pop-up—our company’s way of helping local small businesses and nonprofits impacted by COVID-19—has come to an end, but our Boost clients are just getting started! Here’s a snapshot of what Verdin created for each client and what they’re doing with it.
South County Chambers of Commerce
“Cruising the Oceano Dunes—a tradition worth protecting.” That’s one of the key messages developed for the South County Chambers of Commerce, which is part of a task force of local residents and businesses striving to keep the Oceano Dunes State Vehicular Recreation Area open.
Talking points like this one—and the fact that the SVRA is the second largest economic driver in the area—will be incorporated into videos to tell the task force’s story. Their goal is to act as a voice for those who want to keep the SVRA open and to find a solution that balances the environmental and economic health of the Central Coast.
“We are so appreciative of the key and supportive messaging,” said Jocelyn Brennan, president of the South County Chambers of Commerce. “This has helped us so much to focus our efforts on an overwhelming topic.”
The Monday Club
The Monday Club is a group of local residents dedicated to serving the Central Coast community and preserving their historic building, designed in 1933 by Julia Morgan, the first licensed woman architect in California. For their Boost project, Verdin put together a press release for the “100 Women, 100 Years” fundraiser that celebrates the 100th anniversary of the 19th amendment, giving women the right to vote. Verdin also compiled a list of promotional ideas to support the campaign, to help raise awareness of the Monday Club’s activities and unique facility.
The purpose of the campaign is twofold: to recognize women, past and present, who have significantly impacted the local community and to raise funds to cover the cost of restoring the nearly 85-year-old building located on Monterey Street. The Monday Club raised $650,000 through grants and private donations and took out a loan for the balance. Money raised through the “100 Women, 100 Years” campaign will be used to pay off the loan.

Follow them on Facebook or Instagram to stay up to date on what’s happening, and let them know what you love about SLO Pro!
Gala Pride and Diversity Center
Say hello to the new Gala Pride and Diversity Center, the new and more inclusive brand of GALA! To help with the nonprofit’s transformation, Verdin combined the prize package they won as runner up of the 2018 24-Hour Give with the benefits of Boost. The project included key messaging and promotional tactics for their brand launch on June 27, Global Pride Day.
For more than two decades, the nonprofit has provided support and encouraged diversity and inclusion. Over the years, it became clear that their original name, Gay & Lesbian Alliance of the Central Coast (GALA) no longer encompassed the range of clients served. The new name and brand, Gala Pride & Diversity Center, carries forward the equity built with the GALA name, but with more inclusivity.
