If Trail Running’s Your Game, Slo Ultra’s the Name!
For the past three years fitness fanatics have traveled to the Central Coast to participate in the SLO Ultra, which boasts the biggest trail race in the county. Over the weekend of October 26-27, 2019, Arroyo Grande will be celebrating its first year hosting the SLO Ultra at Lopez Lake since Race SLO’s founding in 2008.
SLO Ultra events are open to participants of all experience levels, from novice to expert, and there are special events for kids. Activities include trail running, hiking, obstacle racing and crossfit style competition.
For the extreme athlete, the ULTRA DOUBLE Trail Run is a two-day event totaling 39.2 miles. If that sounds daunting, trail races and games of various distances and rigor are available as well! After the events, attendees are invited to enjoy beer, music and fun (non-athletic) activities at the SLO Ultra Festival.
SLO Ultra is an event of Race SLO, the largest participatory sporting event producer on the Central Coast of California. Thanks to their sponsors, Race SLO contributes to community programming and non-profit support of health, fitness, and youth related causes. They have raised over $250,000 for non-profits on the Central Coast. This year’s SLO Ultra event will benefit the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Advisory Foundation and San Luis Obispo County Parks.
Because SLO Ultra is a multi-day event, attendees can either camp at Lopez Lake or stay in one of the beautiful lodging options through Visit Arroyo Grande, the exclusive lodging sponsor for the event. More information can be found at https://www.sloultra.com.
