Time really does fly when you’re having fun. These past 10 weeks have given me insight into what it takes to be part of a well orchestrated marketing agency. The internal catchphrase “One Team One Dream” (often referenced as #OTOD) really stands for what Verdin is all about.
In my 10 weeks here, I gained so much knowledge, not just in marketing, but also in team work. Before I started at Verdin, I never realized just how important it is to work in a tight knit team. All of the tasks Verdin performs, wouldn’t get done or be at the level that they are without each and every team members’ input.
From creating social content calendars to formatting board reports in indesign, I really got to be a part of a wide variety of projects. This being my first marketing internship, I was pushed and challenged with almost all of the tasks I was given.
One of my favorite things about working at Verdin is finally being able to put to work what I have been learning at Cal Poly for the past three years. It’s one thing to be lectured about marketing strategy and creating an e-newsletter, but it’s another to actually do it. I appreciate Cal Poly’s “Learn by Doing” philosophy that encourages students to get out into the world to put their learnings to work.
Overall, my time here at Verdin was the best! I loved my time so much that I expressed my interest in staying on the team as an account coordinator. I will be woking as a part-time account coordinator while I finish my last two quarters at Cal Poly. I am in the process of transitioning from being assigned intern tasks to assisting the account managers and project manager with client relations and coordinating projects.
I am excited to continue on and learn more from my team. I am so happy to have landed here and get to continue to be a part of this dedicated agency.
