Nonprofit Spotlight: Hearst Cancer Resource Center
Hearst Cancer Resource Center (HCRC) is a center in San Luis Obispo that provides free programs and services to people diagnosed with cancer and their families. This year, the center is celebrating 10 years of providing services and assistance to the San Luis Obispo community – and their work is something to celebrate indeed!
Who They Are
The Hearst Cancer Resource Center started with a gift from local Hearst family members, who wanted cancer patients and families to have a safe place where they could find support during a tough time. Cancer is a life-altering diagnosis that creates trauma, uncertainty and fear, and the HCRC is a compassionate resource that walks through the ups and downs of a cancer journey alongside families.
The center is made up of doctors, registered nurses, bilingual nurses, and volunteers – and it’s all free of charge. Every patient is treated with knowledgeable care to guide him or her through their journey to recovery.
What They Do
The HCRC opened in 2008 and is now experiencing 1,000 visits, contacts, health fairs & outreaches per month. They offer more than 22 programs and services including medical care, healing therapies, yoga classes, wig designing classes and more. The HCRC helps clients not only physically, but emotionally as well.

The evening will include guest speakers, hors d’oeuvres, champagne, and interactive art. Attendees will also receive an event t-shirt!
