For the sixth consecutive year, local Mexican restaurant Old Juan’s Cantina is keeping the spirit of giving alive during the holidays by hosting a month-long fundraiser. Throughout the month of December, for every item ordered off their “Specials” menu, Old Juan’s Cantina will donate $1 to the Food Bank Coalition of San Luis Obispo County. To date, donations from this annual fundraiser have brought in more than $10,000 for local nonprofit organizations, in addition to other community donations through the year.
Located in Oceano, Old Juan’s Cantina has been owned and operated by the Verdin family for almost 40 years. Because of this dedication to family, Old Juan’s is excited that this year’s fundraiser will benefit an organization that not only nourishes individuals, but also strengthens families by giving them the ability to eat meals together.
Money from the Old Juan’s fundraiser will go directly to the Food Bank Coalition’s general fund, which helps ensure that every person in the county has adequate access to nutritious food. In 2015, the Food Bank will distribute a record 6.3 million pounds of food to those in need. They also work with more than 80 community partners who have their own distribution efforts that help alleviate hunger in our county.
The community is invited to join Old Juan’s Cantina this month to enjoy fresh Mexican cuisine while supporting the Food Bank.
